GRAND ISLAND, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/29/09 --
Viatran, a Dynisco company, has introduced
the Viatran Networking System (VNS), which enables centralized wireless
monitoring of sensors placed throughout a gas or oil field, or around any
facility where measurement is critical. This versatile and cost-efficient
wireless design will transition also into many applications in the general
industrial market, as well as the oil and gas industry. Viatran is also
offering a free white
paper describing remote monitoring solutions for upstream oil and gas
facilities.
The new Viatran
Networking System consists of the Viatran Remote Device (VRD) and the
Viatran Hub (VHub). The VRD gathers information from the sensors in the
field and relays the information wirelessly to the VHub. The VHub serves as
the communication link for up to 10 VRDs. Each VHub sends the data to a
flow computer, SCADA system, or Distributed Control System.
VRDs can be either process- or pole-mounted, and are typically powered by
an internal non-rechargeable Lithium ion battery, which is capable of
lasting for a minimum of 1 year, or by an external power supply. Each
device will support 3 analog and 2 digital inputs and will wirelessly pass
information to the VHub at a distance of up to one mile.
The VHub receives messages from all of the VRDs with which it is associated
and maps the data received into the assigned Modbus registers. The
information is then passed so that the data can be accessed by the user.
"The VNS will keep site managers current on the condition of their
production resources," said Mike LaFleur, Product Manager. "In these
challenging economic times, management is alerted to problems quickly,
which enables them to minimize lost production and maximize employee
productivity by reducing or eliminating non-productive, time-consuming
visits to remote locations."
"Viatran has long been known as a supplier of pressure transmitters for the
oil and gas industry," said Dave Shepard, Vice President Industrial
Segment. "In the past six months, however, we have begun implementing a
strategy aimed at making Viatran the go-to supplier for complete,
integrated control solutions. One key part of that strategy includes the
introduction of several new products that can help our customers achieve
better control of their industrial applications."
Some typical applications include natural gas and oil pipelines and
wellheads, gas compressors, and/or offshore or onshore oil and gas rigs.
