Sep. 22--THOMASVILLE -- The vehicle used in the burglary of a local convenience store ATM last week has been identified, officials said Monday.
Lt. Tim Watkins, chief investigator with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, said officials believe the truck was stolen from a local dealership.
"We believe it was stolen from Price Point Car Sales," he said.
Mike Little, manager of Price Point, said Monday the business is missing a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab pickup truck, maroon and silver in color.
Employees of the business heard about the incident, knew they had a vehicle like it, checked their records, realized the automobile was stolen and alerted law enforcement.
Surveillance footage captured the truck and two individuals in blue and black flannel shirts stealing an ATM from Susie Q's #2, 12609 U.S. 319 North, in Thomasville during the early morning hours of Sept. 18.
The suspects backed up the truck to the front of the store, broke in through a window, tied a cable to the ATM, drug it out, loaded it onto the vehicle and fled the scene.
Little estimated the truck's value at about $10,000.
It has approximately 94,000 miles on it and had been on the lot for a few months.
Little said the vehicle does have a mark that may make it stand out.
"It has a dent in the driver's side rear bumper," he said.
The case is still under active investigation, Watkins said.
