The famous Adire cloth will soon begin to wear a better look, as a leading Chinese cloth making company has acceded to the Ogun State Government's request to fine tune the production processes of the popular local brand.
This formed part of the agreement reached when the Ogun State Investment mission to China led by Governor Gbenga Daniel visited the Quindao Phoenix Printing and Dyeing Company as it rounded off its mission in Shandong Province. The company which is the manufacturer of the popular range of Phoenix Hitarget Ankara range of wax products would make its technology know how, especially in the area of drying of dyed cloth no matter the weather condition, available to Adire makers under a programme to be jointly supervised by both parties.
Chairman of the Company, Dai Zhihua, in a statement sent to THISDAY in Abeokuta from China by the Chief Press Secretary to Daniel, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, was emphatic that the support and endorsement of Governor Daniel had given investors and industrialists who are based in Shandong, China the confidence to take up land in the Ogun -Shandong Industrial Park.He said the company agreed with Daniel's submission, that a product like Hitarget that enjoys wide patronage in 20 African countries should have a major outlet for production in the continent, assuring that Ogun would get the base. Zhihua pledged the commitment of his organisation to the Adire programme as agreed with the Ogun State team.
