Sep. 4--Why settle for listening to The Beatles when you can become The Beatles?
On the same day remastered versions of the band's entire musical catalog hits stores, an all-new edition of the popular video game "Rock Band" will bring the Fab Four to virtual life in your living room.
"The Beatles: Rock Band," available for Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii consoles, gives would-be rockers a chance to grab an instrument and play along with 45 tunes spanning the band's legendary career. The game features the band's most memorable concert settings -- the Cavern Club, Shea Stadium, the rooftop of Apple Records and more -- while gamers play along on replica instruments modeled after the band's own, whether it's Paul McCartney's signature Hofner violin bass or George Harrison's Gretsch Duo Jet guitar.
Also new in this version of "Rock Band" is the ability for players to engage in Beatlesque three-part vocal harmonies.
Of course, you can play with your old "Rock Band" (and most "Guitar Hero") instruments if you already own them. The game alone will cost you $59.99 and controllers based on Harrison's and John Lennon's guitars run $99.99 each. But to get Sir Paul's bass and Ringo Starr's pearl Ludwig drum kit, you'll have to shell out for the Limited Edition Premium Bundle, which includes the game, bass, drum and a mic with stand for $249.99.
