SBA to help York County flood victims apply for loans [The York Dispatch, Pa.] [08/03/2009 ]

Aug. 2--Representatives from the York County Office of Emergency Management and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency will be in Seven Valleys to help June 10 flood victims fill out U.S. Small Business Administration loan request forms.

The representatives will be at Seven Valleys Fire Co. at 35 Main St. in Seven Valleys Borough from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Families and businesses with properties damaged by the flood will receive help in filling out damage/loss survey forms and loan applications, according to a press release from the York County Office of Emergency Management.

For flood victims to qualify for assistance from the SBA, at least 25 homes and/or businesses affected by the blaze had to have sustained uninsured losses of 40 percent or more of their estimated fair market value.

Recently, SBA loan application assistance was offered to 61 York City residents displaced by an intentionally set fire that caused an estimated $2.6 million in damage to homes in the 700 block of Chestnut Street.

SBA loans can be used to replace or repair real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, inventory and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed, according to SBA's Web site.

Interest ranges from 2.19 percent to 6 percent, depending on the loan's purpose and whether the applicant can get credit elsewhere.

The maximum term is 30 years, and applicants must have an acceptable credit history.

While

the most severe damage from the June 10 flood was sustained in Seven Valleys and North Codorus and Codorus townships, any York County resident who sustained property damage from the flood can apply for a loan.

For information, call the York County Office of Emergency Management at 840-2990.
