TITLE

ENERGY GENERATION PLANT, DRIVEN BY A WIND OR WATER FLOW

ABSTRACT

The invention relates to an energy generation plant for generating electric energy from a water or wind flow, comprising: a turbine; an electric generator, having a coaxial arrangement of the rotor and stator, wherein the rotor is an external rotor and forms part of an annular supporting structure for the turbine, and wherein the electric generator is a separately excited synchronous generator and excitation windings are provided in the rotor; an excitation device, providing excitation power to the excitation windings without brushes; regions encapsulated against the surrounding medium and associated with the rotor and the stator, wherein the electronic components and/or at least a part of the generator components of the energy generation plant are housed in the encapsulated regions.
