Post-Bulletin (Rochester, MN) via NewsEdge : Jan. 16--A fashion show featuring clothing worn by everyday people will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Rochester Senior Center.
Moms and grandmas, sisters and aunts interested in strutting down the walkway should register early to have a chance to be a fashion model and/or receive a makeover. They need to register for either one by calling 287-1404 no later than Feb. 5.
The Lady Luncheon and Fashion Show will showcase everything from business attire to casual clothing to evening wear supplied by the Dress Barn, a clothing store in Rochester. Janet Ofstie, program assistant for the senior center, says the event is something that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
"For one thing, it's a fun thing to do. It's something different. It gives them something they can share with people outside the membership of the center, because they can invite their own guest," Ofstie said.
Another highlight of the event, she said, will involve picking one or two people from the audience and taking them backstage for a beauty makeover, which will be done by cosmetologists from the Nova Academy of Cosmetology.
Ofstie said organizers are not looking for models who have the "perfect figure" but people of all body types. Each model will wear about four or five outfits during the show.
"Everyone really enjoys seeing people they know model these clothes and to really get a feel for (how) they might look in them," she said.
A photographer also will be on hand to take group and individual photos for a small fee.
The lunch will include a Caesar's salad, lasagna, garlic toast and cheesecake with raspberry sauce. The cost is $10 per adult and $6 for children 10 and under.
